Ultrastructural Observation of Optic Nerve Regeneration Model

Objective To investigate the microstructural changes of anastomosed segment of optic nerve with sciatic nerve. Methods Models of autologuous sciatic nerve segment transplanted into the optic nerve of rats were performed and anastomosed nerve tissue were removed and examined by electron microscopy after experimental days. Results Optic nerve fiber was smaller than sciatic nerve fiber. Never cells were degeneration\|edema and necrosis in 15th day. Pithy nerve fiber recovered gradually in 30, 45, 60th day after transplatation. Conclution Sciatic nerve transplatation can support the regeneration of optic nerve probably. \;
