The crystal structures of novel products from the insertion of various diazoalkanes into the iron−phosphorus bond in FeCl 2 L 2 (L = phosphine) complexes are presented. Specifically, ethyl diazoacetate and diphenyldiazomethane reacted with FeCl 2 (PMe 2 Ph) 2 to afford FeCl 2 [N(PMe 2 Ph)NC(H)CO 2 Et] 2 ( 1 ) and FeCl 2 [N(PMe 2 Ph)NCPh 2 ] ( 2 ). Interestingly, ethyl diazoacetate inserted into both iron phosphine bonds of FeCl 2 (d i ppe) 2 to afford the seven-membered metallacycle ( 3 ).
