The utilization of events in the creation of positive destination images for regional tourism destinations - a case study of the seaside food festival, frankston
The aim of this paper is to review the potential impact of events on the creation of positive destination images in regional tourism destinations. The research focuses on the Seaside Street Food Festival, Frankston, Victoria, Australia. Quantitative survey data was collected during the festival and research findings highlight the potential positive effects that events have on the creation of tourist perceptions on a destination. In addition, research findings indicate that events can be seen as accelerators to wider tourist activity insofar as visitors to the festival reported their intention to visit additional tourist attractions and engage in sightseeing activity as a result of attending the festival.
