摘要
In the last decade, reactive nitrogen (RNS) as well as reactive oxygen species (ROS) have emerged as important signaling molecules crucial to the establishment of abiotic stress tolerance. The high reactivity of nitric oxide (NO) and its interaction with intracellular regulators determine the Janus-like signaling of this key secondary messenger. In the present chapter, we address tyrosine nitration as one of the regulatory mechanisms of the redox status with the emphasis on cytoskeleton components in the cell. The involvement of NO in cell signaling events under unfavorable environmental conditions such as wounding, cold and heat, high salinity, drought, flooding, ozone, UV exposure, and so on, will be considered in detail.
