The bearing capacity of bottom-enlarged piles with large diameters is slight low. According to analysis, the reasons should be as follows: the inserting depth of the supporting layer is not sufficient, and the soil on the supporting layer is soft as well, so that the bearing capacity is quite influenced. Under the conditions, the actual bearing capacity is closer to the calculated bearing capacity according to the shallow foundation. It is suggested that the design value of qpk should be equal to 0.6 times the reconnaissance value.
