Properties of Dual Cured Polyurethane Film Coatings Based on Natural Rubber

Summary Dual curable polyurethane (PU) material coating was prepared from natural rubber based polyol. The end capping technique was applied to terminate the PU prepolymer chains with thiol and acrylate monomers. The end capped PU coatings had improved physical and mechanical properties as well as curing time. The developed end capped PU prepolymers or PUDUALs obviously reduced paint defects. A 2/1 molar ratio of thiol/acrylate monomers prominently gave a PUDUAL coating with properties comparable to a commercial PU coating.
