Economic, cultural and community regeneration in south Dorset

This paper traces the transformation of the former naval/Ministry of Defence sites on Portland, which closed in the 1990s; the regeneration policy approach that was adopted; the partnership working that developed to ensure that regeneration projects were implemented successfully; the hosting of the London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games sailing events; and some of the economic, cultural, community and legacy benefits that are being derived from hosting the Games.
