摘要
In the preceding paper (Chino, 1957) a sudden disappearance of glycogen is silkworm eggs was shown to be associated with the onset of diapause and a sudden reappearance with the termination of diapause. The present study has shown that the glycogen originally present is nearly all converted into polyhydric alcohols, sorbitol and glycerol, as soon as diapause begins and remains so during diapause. When diapause is brought to an end, however, glycogen is resynthesized from these alcohols.
