Synthesis of bisphenol F by using modified cation exchange resin

A catalyst of cation exchange resin modified by aluminium chloride was selected to synthesize bisphenol F by condensation of phenol and formaldehyde.The optimal reaction condition was investigated.The result showed that the yield of bisphenol F could reach above 80%with phenol to formaldehyde molar ratio 5:1,reaction temperature 75℃and reaction time 2.5h.And the catalyst could be used repeatedly.
