SIZE EFFECT OF THE ABSORPTANCE OF ULTRA-THIN IRON FILMS

The relationship between absorptance and thickness of ultra-thin iron films in visible and IR regions indicated that the absorptance of the metal films has size effect. The reflectance and transmittance of the films kept fixed values when the thickness of films was over 20 nm. In visible region, the maximum of absorptance of ultra-thin iron films appeared at thickness of about 18 nm. In infrared region, the absorptance roof of ultra-thin films appeared at thickness of about 10-20 nm. Comparing electric conductivity characteristic with absorptance of the films with different thicknesses, it can be concluded that the unique structure feature of the films led to the size effect of the absorptance.
