Research on the Gamut of TV with Direct Illumination LED Backlight

Variation of chromaticity coordinates under different optical materials and LCD panels were firstly studied,and the results showed that average deviation of color coordinates under optical materials is(-0.0285,0.0270),then the value under LCD panels is(0.0139,0. 0015).Secondly,the gamut of TV were researched,and the results showed that:(1)The gamut gap under different optical materials is only 0.2%;(2)The gamut gap under different LCD panels which attached to the same LED is 22.8%;(3)Backlight with two bands white LED can achieved 75.3% NTSC,while 84.2% NTSC with white LED of three bands,and 104.5% NTSC with RGB LED respectively.Therefore,each part of the comprehensive influence of chromaticity coordinates must be considered to accomplish a specific color;In addition,LCD pannel and the corresponding LED light source are needed to obtain high color gamut.
