A novel phosphorus-containing flame retardant: copolymer of 10-(dimethoxymethylsilylethyl-9,10-dihydro-9-oxa-10-phosphaphanthrene-10-oxide/γ-aminopropyl methyl diethoxysilane(DPWDF) was synthesized through the reaction of 9,10-dihydro-9-oxa-10-phosphaphanthrene-10-oxide(DOPO),vinyl methyl dimethoxysilane(WD-23) and γ-aminopropyl methyl diethoxysilane(DB902).The thermal stability of flame retardant and flame retarded PC/ABS were investigated by thermogravimetric analysis(TGA) in N_2 and air.Results show that the flame retardant has higher char residue in air than that in N_2 after 480 ℃;the fact that flame retardant decomposes before PC/ABS is the major reason for the accelerated of char forming and improving of char residue of PC/ABS at high temperature.
