A Tentative Study on Metadiscourse

Metadiscourse is widely used in current discourse analysis and language study,which therefore attracts our attention on interpersonal scope.Based on Hyland's(2004)theory,this thesis firstly introduces the definitions of metadiscourse;then proves the functions of metadiscourse and lists the differences between metadiscourse and propositional information according to Halliday's three meta functions of language;finally,it demonstrates Hyland Tse's(2004)stance that all metadiscourse is interpersonal.
