Background on Bladder Cancer

Bladder Cancer (BC) is the 7th most common cancer worldwide in men and the 17th most common cancer worldwide in women (Burger et al. in Eur Urol 63(2):234–41, 2013). Approximately 75% of newly diagnosed bladder cancers are non-invasive (NMIBC). This chapter covers background on bladder cancer.
