Application of skin soft-tissue expansion for scar

Objective To intrduce clinical experience of applying skin soft tissue expansion. Methods Since 2001, skin soft tissue expansion has been used to repair scars formde from many diseases in 12 patients. We decided the size, shape of the expander and the way of implantation according to the intraoperative scars and skin flaps were transferred to repair the defect. Results All cases were followed up about 6～24 months, and the results were satisfactory. Conclusion The soft tissue expansion is effective for repairing scars.
