Confocal endoscopy for diagnosing gastrointestinal diseases

Confocal endoscope is a new technology.It enables subsurface analysis of the gut mucosa and in vivo histology during ongoing endoscopy in full resolution by point scanning laser fluorescence analysis.This article describes the diagnostic spectrum of confocal endoscope.It's tempting to speculate that confocal endoscope will play an important diagnostic role in gastrointestinal diseases in the future.
