CHANGES OF BLOOD PRESSURE IN PATIENTS WITH ACUTE STROKE

Objective To evaluate the regulation of blood pressure variety in acute stroke patients,and explore the mechanism and treatment. Methods A mobile observation of blood pressure was carried out in 110 patients with acute stroke confirmed by cerebral CT scanning. The results were compared with the blood pressure in 100 patients of general surgery. Results The blood pressure of patients in both groups was the highest at the first check after admission. Then the pressure came down rapidly without any antihypertensive therapy and reached to low level in 4-5 days and fluctuated around this level thereafter. At tenth day after admission, only one-third of the patients' blood pressure remained high. The reduction of the blood pressure in control group was not obvious. Conclusion our study showed that the blood pressure of patients with stroke went up firstly. then came down. These data suggest that blood pressure reduction should be taken with precausion during the acute period.
