If glucose or methanol is used as carbon source in denitrification nitrate can be fully removed in grain filter by the process so long as carbon substance is sufficient. But the best proportion of carbon to nitrogen with glucose as carbon source is much higher than that with methanol and will reach 6∶1~7∶1 (C 6H 12O 6∶NO - 3N=6~7∶1). Nitrate will accumulate when carbon source is insufficient, and the accumulation will be beavier in the case of using glucose as carbon source. Moreover, reaction rate with methanol as carbon source is four times faster than that with glucose under the same condition. In the experimetn conducted by the authors denitrification showed zero degree in kinetic order k(CH 3OH)=160mg/L·h, k(C 6H 12O 6)=42mg/ L·h.
