F-anion was used to modify CuNiAl hydrotalcite, and then the modified catalyst were tested in the selective oxidation of toluene to benzyl alcohol. The structure and the surface properties of catalyst were characterized by FTIR and XRD techniques. The results showed that F-anion modified CuNiAl hydrotalcite held layer structures, and exhibited high catalytic performance in toluene oxidation. The conversion of toluene reached 8.4% with the selectivity of 81.4% to benzyl alcohol.
