Clinical study on acupuncture combined with semi-conductor laser irradiation for the treatment of Hunt facial palsy

Objective To explore a new therapy with good therapeutic effect and high cure rate for Hunt facial palsy. Methods Sixty three cases of facial paralysis were randomly divided into 2 groups. 32 cases in treatment group were treated by combination of acupuncture and semi-conductor laser irradiation. Patients in control group (n=31) were treated by routine acupuncture. The therapeutic effects and clinical score were assessed in two groups. Results The therapeutic effects and clinical score in the treatment group were superior to those in control group (P0.01). Conclusion Both acupuncture combined with semi-conductor laser irradiation and simple acupuncture have good therapeutic effects on Hunt facial palsy,but the effect in treatment group is better than that in control group.
