Transposon-based technologies for insects.

To illustrate the diverse uses of DNA transposons in insects, this chapter reviews the existing transposon-based technologies and their current ranges of application within insects. These techniques include mutagenesis, germ-line transformation, modular expression systems, cell/genetic ablation, transgene mis-expression, transgenic gene silencing, site-specific recombination, and use of genetic sensors.
