I2‐Mediated Mild Synthesis of Benzothiadiazine 1,1‐Dioxide Derivatives From Aminobenzamides and Aldehydes

ABSTRACT An environmentally benign and transition metal‐free oxidative cyclization method has been developed for the one‐pot synthesis of benzothiadiazine 1,1‐dioxide derivatives, utilizing molecular iodine (I 2 ) as the sole oxidant from commercially available aldehydes and 2‐aminobenzenesulfonamides. The protocol features a wide substrate scope and simple operation, providing easy access to a range of benzothiadiazine 1,1‐dioxide derivatives in moderate to good yields.
