摘要
We present a high repetition-rate (rep-rate) narrow-band burst mode Yb fiber laser system working as a laser front-end for the application of electron microbunching modulation in the storage ring. This laser system could provide a narrow-band picosecond pulses working in the burst mode with a rep-rate of 10 kHz, featuring in 120-ns long burst containing 60 pulses. The intra-burst repetition rate is 500 MHz, and the total pulse energy within the burst is ~4 μJ, corresponding to individual pulse energy of 67 nJ. The narrow-band spectrum of generated pulse is centered at 1064.3 nm with -3 dB bandwidth of 0.48 nm, matching with the gain bandwidth of following slab amplifier. The individual pulse duration is measured to be 34 ps. This fiber laser front-end is constructed as a seed for the following slab amplifier and UV (ultra-violet) frequency convertor, schemed to produce burst mode energetic UV pulses, synchronizing with circulating electrons, enable microbunching modulation in the diffraction-limited storage ring.
