Studies on lethal factors of papillary thyroid carcinoma (Analysis of 749 cases)

Objective:To explore the lethal factors of PTC.Methods:Serven hundred forty nine patients with PTC from 1962.8.～1993.8. were studied retrospectively,within them,77patients have been dead and the mortality was 10.28%.Results:Mortality was associated with neck lymph node metastasis,distant metastasis and local aggression. Among these 77 patients,49 patients (63.64%) died from local aggression and lymph node metastasis,28 patients (36.36%) died from distant metastasis. Conclusion:Tumour local aggression and distant metastasis were the main lethal factors of PTC.
