The effects of additives with various content on the toluene insoluble, softening point and the carbon yield of the coal tar pitch, the oxidation resistance and the graphitization activity of its pitch coke were investigated. The influence of additives on the modification action of coal tar pitch and the properties of its pitch coke were discussed. Results showed when a certain amount of additive was added to coal tar pitch, its toluene insoluble and carbon yield increased, the oxidation resistance and the graphitization activity of its pitch coke can be remarkablely improved. Such coke has a relatively high ash content. After being graphitized at 2?300?℃, its pitch coke demonstrated good oxidation resistance as well.
