The effects of the variations of the ingredients of the sand reinforced magnesium oxychloride gelatin composites on their flexural properties have been investigated. Experimental results showed that the increase of the addition amount of the sand could significantly raise both the flexural strength and the flexural modulus of the composites. Small size of the grains of sand can give the materials good reinforcement with the raise of the flexural properties. Composite with 60% of mass fraction of sand raised its flexural strength to 40.1% and the flexural modulus up to 132.1% compared with the blank test.
