Study of synthesis of fructone-B by cation exchange resin

The strongly acidic cation exchange resin catalyzed synthesis of fructone-B by the reaction of ethyl acetoacetate and 1,2-propanediol was studied.The effect of reaction temperature,reaction time,molar ratio of the reactants and the amount of catalyst on the yield were investigated.The proper technological conditions were given as follows,reaction temperature is 104 ,reaction time is 3 hn(ethyl acetoacetate)n(1,2-propanediol)=11.45,the water stripping reagent(cyclohexane)is 15 mL(when acetoacetate is 0.15 mol),the amount of strongly acidic cation exchange resin is 5.25 %(based on total mass of reactants).The yield of fructone-B can reach 96.81 %.Purity of the fructone-B reaches 99.8 %.
