The total saponin of Xanthoceras Sorbifolia shell was extracted by ultrasonic extraction.Based on single factor experiment of raw material granularity,solvent-to-solid,ethanol concentration, ultrasonic treatment time, ultrasonic power, etc, the optimal extraction process of total saponin from Xanthoceras sorbifolia shell was determined by response surface methodology. The results showed that the extraction ratio of total saponin was significantly affected by solvent-to-solid and ethanol concentration,solvent-to-solid and ultrasonic power, ultrasonic time and ultrasonic power on the extraction rate of total saponin. The optimal extraction conditions of the total saponins were as followed:the solvent-to-solid 34.1∶1(V∶m),the ethanol concentration 87.6%,the ultrasonic treatment time29.7min,the ultrasonic power 117.9W.Under the conditions, the extraction rate of total saponins was 0.804 8%.The result was consistent with the simulated predictive value.
