Effect of rare earth on 6063 modified aluminum alloy

Adding a certain amount of rare earth into 6063 aluminum alloy and strictly controlling the contents of the magnesium and silicon,the 6063D-RE modified aluminum alloy is produced by using the industrial production equipment,then the as-casting microstructure and extrusion properties of the 6063D-RE alloy are studied.The results show that:the properties of the alloy is raised,during the extruding process,the extrusion force required is reduced,the life of the mold and the rate of extruding are improved,and the productivity gets more efficient.RE has a good modifying effect to the microstructure of aluminum alloy.There are a small amount of rare earth-rich phases precipitated after rare earth added.
