Electroacupuncture for Pain after Hemorhoids Surgery

Objective To assess the clinical effects of electroacupuncture on moderate or severe pain after hemorrhoids surgery.Methods 160 patients with moderate or severe pain after receiving hemorrhoids surgery were randomly divided into a treatment group and a control group,80 in each.The treatment group received electroacupuncture,while the control was treated by medication,and the pain intensity was scored before and after the treatment in both groups.Result The pain scores declined in both groups evaluated by Visual Analogue Scale(VAS).The comparison of VAS score at 30 min,1 h,2 h,4 h,and 6 h after treatment showed significantly better results in the treatment group than in the control(P0.05,P0.01).Conclusion Electroacupuncture can effectively attenuate moderate and severe pain after hemorrhoids surgery.
