The effect of long-term domicilinary axygen therapy on the patients' condition of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease during the acute exacerbation period

Objective To observe the patients' condition and treatment in chronic obstructive pulmonary disease(COPD) acute exacerbation influenced by long-term domicilinary oxygen therapy(LTDOT).Methods Fifty-four cases with COPD in acute exacerbation were divided into two groups,twenty-eight cases as oxygen-therapy group with oxygen flow of 1～2 L/min for average(12.3±4.6) hours every day for more than six months.Clinical symptoms including cough、sputum、dyspnea and sibilant、the lung function test、 analysis of artery blood-gas、the condition of cellular immune function and obtaining clinical symptoms control rate after one week treatment between two groups were compered.Results (1)During the acute exacerbation,Symptoms including cough、sputum、dyspnea and sibilant in oxygen-therapy group were lower than those of control group(P0.05);(2)PaO_2、NKC activity、CD~+_3、CD~+_4、CD~+_4/CD~+_8 in oxygen-therapy group were higher than those of control group(P0.05);(3)After one week treatment,control rates of clinical symptoms were higher than those of control group(P(0.05)).Conclusions LTDOT alleviated significantly the clinical symptoms of patients with COPD during the acute exacerbation and shorted the therapy period.The reason may be related with improvement cellular immune function and partly corrected hypoxaemia in patients by LTDOT.
