EP18.11: Breast ultrasound in Afghanistan

To know how breast ultrasound is done in Afghanistan and what is the importance of breast examination. Breast ultrasound is very important specially in countries like Afghanistan where the breast cancer incidence are very high as compare to the other countries. What are the importance of this procedure and how often it is done, and who is doing it was studied. This was done by the survey of different of ultrasound clinic reports referring patients for mammography. It was concluded that most of the ultrasound clinics were not equipped to high resolution and linear transducer and 99.9% were doing breast ultrasound with simple 3.5 MHz convex probe. It is highly recommended that proper probe with high resolution (high frequency) to be used for breast ultrasound.
