Objective To learn about the possible mechanism,by observing the influence of glucose on the effect of proliferation and apoptosis in colon cancer cell line induced by sodium butyrate.Methods Survival rate was detected by MTT assay.Apoptosis was detected by flow cytometer.GLUT 1 and MCT1 mRNA was detected by RT-PCR.Results Low concentration of glucose could induce apoptosis and influence proliferation in HT-29 cell line.And glucose could obviously inhibit the effect of proliferation inhibition and apoptosis induced by sodium butyrate.Glucose could also down regulated the expression of MCT1 mRNA,and decreased the expression of GLUT1 mRNA slightly.Conclusion Glucose can influence theproliferation inhibition and apoptosis induced by sodium butyrate and this may be associated with the intracellular concentration of glucose and sodium butyrate.
