Investigation on health education of 5 universities in Fuzhou

Objective To investigate development of health education in universities in Fuzhou,and to provide advice and information for offering health policies and promoting health education of universities.Methods A questionnaire survey was conducted in Fuzhou University,Fujian Normal University,Fujian Medical University,Fujian Traditional Chinese Medical University and Minjiang College(241 students) and interviews were finished among 9 persons in charge of the related department and 14 students in those five schools.Results About 235(97.5%) considered health education important;224(92.9%) considered it necessary to carried out health education in schools;218(90.5%) thought health education course should be set during the first year in college.There was no department in charge of health education in all the five colleges.The popular patterns of education were as follows: health education film(54.4%),course(51.5%),lecture(41.1%),etc.The students thought mental health(70.5%),health life-skills(54.8%),sexual health(40.2%).About 190(79.3%) students were satisfied with the school health education.Conclusion The health education should be improved in universities in Fuzhou.
