Membrane lipid microdomain─-a newly discovered membrane confined structure

Membrane lipid microdomain is a newly discovered membrane confined domain which consists of sphingomyelin, choles terol , glycosphingolipid and many GPI anchored proteins. This region has special character and chemical components, and consists of many important signal transduction proteins. Besides, lipid microdomain shows both differentiation from and correlation to caveolae.
