[Objective] The antibacterial activity of pigment from Mangrove Kandelia candel was studied, which provided a reference for evaluation and exploitation of medicinal values of Mangrove Kandelia candel.[Method] Using filter paper method, determination of inhibition zone as an inspection target, the inhibitory effects of the Kandelia candel pigment on the growth of Bacillus subtilis, Escherichia coli and Pseudomonas aeruginosa were tested respectively. [Result]Kandelia candel pigment had different degrees of the inhibitory effects on three strains, the sequences were as follows,Bacillus subtilis, was the most obvious,Escherichia coli followed, and Pseudomonas aeruginosa was the weakest. [Conclusion] The Kandelia candel pigment had more obvious inhibitory effects, this test chose only there strains to be tested,so more effect tests regarding more strains are needed,in order to evaluate the inhibitory effects of the pigment comprehensively.
