D D strain mice were X-rayed 7 days after transplantation of Ehrlich ascites tumor cells. X-rayed ascites tumor cells were studied in connection with the lapse of time after irradiation and variation of irradiation dosis. Quantitative measurement of nucleic acid and protein was made by means of microspectrophotometer. Changes of ascites tumor cells were observed in number per 1.0ml ascites.(1) Ascites tumor cells per 1.0ml ascites decrease in number after irradiation with minimum value after 1-3 hours.(2) DNA contents decrease after irradiation of any dosis of X-ray. The lowest point is observed 1 hour after irradiation (about 30% decrease).(3) Protein and SH group contents diminish soon after irradiation (1000g and 1500g). Their value at 30 minutes after irradiation marked minimum (about 50% decrease).(4) No remarkable changes of other chemical substances were cytochemically detected in irradiated ascites tumor cells.
