Polyimide Composites Reinforced with Whiskers

Polyimide composites reinforced with whiskers were prepared by two methods, a dry method and a wet method. The composites of polyimide exhibit high strength, high thermal resistance and good wear resistance, comparable to those of polyimides. The composites have been compared with other composites of polyimide filled with glass fibre powder, polytetrafluoroethylene and graphite. The surface of the composites was studied by scanning electron micrography. The composites can be applied in advanced technical fields.
