摘要
The advantages of nonlinear integrated optics are discussed and compared with bulk optics. Second-order effects in particular (of an expansion of the polarization of the nonlinear material as a function of the electrical fields of the interacting optical modes) allow achieving efficient frequency conversion in optical waveguide structures. We report experiments to study these effects and present new integrated optical devices for frequency conversion.
