[Objective]To observe the therapeutic effect of salicylazosulfapyridine(SASP) and Bifico capsules on patients with mild-moderate ulcerative colitis, and investigate its mechanism of action.[Methods]Totally 66 cases of mild-moderate uncreative colitis were randomly divided into combined treatment group (group A,34 cases),single drug treatment group(group B,32 cases),control group (group C,30 cases).Group A was treated with SASP and Bifico capsules orally, group B only received oral administration of SASP,treated for 4 weeks.Clinical symptoms before and after treatment, colonoscopy results of the 2 groups were compared.ELISA was adopted to detect the serum IL-18 and IL-4 levels of all patients and 30 healthy volunteers.[Results]The effective rate of group A was significantly higher than that of group B (P0.05).IL-18 levels of group A and B before treatment were significantly higher than that of group C;after treatment, the difference of IL-18 level was not significant between group A and group C (P0.05);but that of group B was higher than group C.Before treatment,IL-4 levels of group A and B were not significantly different from that of group C (P0.05);after treatment,IL-4 level of group A was significantly higher than that of group C(P0.05);there was no significant difference between group b and group C.[Conclusion]Combination of SASP plus Bifico capsules are more effective on mild-moderate ulcerative colitis than SASP only, the possible mechanism is to cut down IL-18 level and to increase IL-4 level so as to play a role of treatment.
