Observations on Efficacy of Acupuncture by Syndrome Differentiation and Stages in Treating Facial Neuritis

Objective To seek a more effective method for treating facial neuritis.Methods Seventy-eight patients were randomly allocated to treatment and control groups.The treatment group was treated with acupuncture of points selected by syndrome differentiation and stages and the control group,with acupuncture only by stages.The therapeutic effect and cure time were evaluated.Results The cure rate was 76.9% in the treatment group and 48.7% in the control group.The average number of treatment courses for the cured patients was 2.9 in the treatment group and 4.0 in the control group.There were statistically significant differences in both(P0.01).Conclusion The effect of acupuncture by syndrome differentiation and stages is superior to that of acupuncture only by stages in treating facial neuritis.
