There were three types calli in the process of anther callus induction and sub-culture in strawberry. Type Ⅰ callus was growing slowly, light green, lump or granular state. Type Ⅱ callus was growing flourishly, fresh- white and swampy. Type Ⅲ(embryogenic) callus was growing more flourishly, fresh-yellow, and crisp state. Type Ⅰ callus was induced from F medium containing NAA 0.2 mg/L+BA 2.0 mg/L+CH 300 mg/L. Type Ⅱ callus was obtained from type Ⅰ callus cultured on MS medium with high 2,4-D level(3.0 mg/L). The quality of type Ⅱ callus was improved when type Ⅱ callus was sub-cultured on MS medium supplemented 2,4-D 0.5~1.0 mg/L,BA 0.05~0.1 mg/L,CH 400 mg/L,Gln 150 mg/L,KCl 400 mg/L. After the improved type Ⅱ callus being selected more than 40 d on the MS medium supplemented KNO_3 1 140 mg/L, yellow and granular callus appeared at the edge of type Ⅱ callus. Type Ⅲ(embryogenic) callus was got from yellow and granular callus on MS medium containing 2,4-D 1.0 mg/L+NAA 1.0 mg/L+ZT 0.2 mg/L+CH 400 mg/L+Gln 150 mg/L+KCl 400 mg/L. It was not suitable for type Ⅰ and type Ⅱ callus but easy for type Ⅲ(embryogenic) callus to establish cell suspension lines and lots of embryoid could be induced from suspension cell. Regeneration could be induced from type Ⅰ callus and type Ⅲ callus which was regulated to type Ⅰ callus. Type Ⅱ callus induced no regeneration.
