Prevalence of QT Interval Prolongation and Its Influencing Factors in Schizophrenia Inpatients

Objective To investigate the prevalence of QT interval prolongation in schizophrenia inpatients,and to analyze the influencing factors.Methods ECG results,demographic data,metabolic indicators and drug data were collected and analyzed in 176 schizophrenia inpatients.Results The prevalence of QT interval prolongation was 9.1% among schizophrenia inpatients.The abnormal rates of body mass index,systolic blood pressure,triglycerides,total cholesterol,diabetes were 27.3%,13.1%,37.5%,15.3% and 13.1%,respectively.QTc interval was positively correlated with total cholesterol(r=0.17,P0.05).Male,systolic pressure,total cholesterol and triglycerides were significant predictors of QTc interval prolongation(β alues were-0.16,0.19,0.27,0.23;P0.05).Conclusion Schizophrenia inpatients have prolonged QT interval and abnormal metabolism.QT interval prolongation is correlated with abnormal metabolic parameters.Therefore,besides medicine,metabolic abnormalities should be noted in patients with QT interval prolongation.
