Study on the process of steam for radix polygoni multiflori

Objective: To research the contents of saccharides in radix polygoni multiflori with different steamed time.Methods: The contents of reducing saccharides, water-soluble saccharides and polysaccharides in radix polygoni multiflori and its processed products were determined by phenol-sulpheric acid method. Results: The contents of saccharides were the highest of than those in the crude drug ,after steaming 35 h,100℃ dry, the reducing saccharides and water-soluble saccharides contents were highest. Conclusion: The radix polygoni multiflori optimum condition is to steam for 0.5 h and the desiccation temperature is 100℃.
