Prospects for Comprehensive Utilization of Gibbsite from Accumulated Bauxite in Western Guangxi Province

This paper briefly described the geological features of accumulated bauxite composed of diaspore and gibbsite,and the occurrence state of gibbsite. Quantitative analysis and digesting test for gibbsite in matrix from accumulated bauxite have been carried out. The analytical results showed that 32.9 percent of the analyzed samples reaches the cut-off grade. Digesting test results of gibbsite proved that its lowest digesting rate reaches 95.5 percent. The gibbsite is characterized with high digesting rate and low smelting cost and high economic value. Western Guangxi province is one of the most important mining areas of gibbsite deposite and has wide prospects for comprehensive utilization.
