Normal menstruation and its disorders

Abstract This chapter begins with the physiology of the menstrual cycle, and describes the normal cycle. It then goes on to disorders, including amenorrhoea, oligomenorrhoea, and dysmenorrhoea, along with their management. Dysfunctional uterine bleeding is covered, with the scope of the problem, diagnosis and investigations, and both medical and surgical management included. The chapter concludes with an overview of premenstrual syndrome, and associated management methods.
