Point-of-Care Ultrasound in Life-Threatening Skin and Soft-Tissue Infections

The value of point-of-care ultrasound (POCUS) in patients presenting with septic shock cannot be underestimated. However, the use of POCUS for diagnosing skin and soft tissue infections has not been widely adopted despite its substantial sensitivity and availability. Here we present the case of a 63-year-old woman with Crohn's disease, hepatitis C, liver cirrhosis, chronic kidney disease stage 2, and protein malnourishment who came to the ED with septic shock.
