Centre of gravity of rigid lenses: Some design considerations

Rigid lens centration and stability are the net result of numerous forces acting on the lens. One of these forces is gravity. The way in which gravitational effects can alter with various lens parameter changes is illustrated using typical lens designs. The relative efficiencies of various lens design alterations in manipulating these effects are also described.
