Abstract This study investigated the resonance properties and temperature coefficient of the frequency of a leaky surface acoustic wave fundamental wave and third and fifth harmonics on a bonded structure comprising a LiNbO 3 (LN) thin plate and quartz (Qz) support substrate. Based on the experimental results, the fundamental wave and third and fifth harmonics can be excited more strongly by utilizing the bonded structure than in the case of a single LN. For the third harmonic, a fractional bandwidth of 2.8%, which is twice that of a previously reported LiTaO 3 /Qz bonded structure, was obtained.
