Extraordinarily High 99mTcO4− Activity in Meckel’s Diverticulum Relative to the Stomach

Meckel’s diverticulum typically shows accumulation of 99m Tc-Pertechnetate ( 99m TcO4 − ) with an intensity lower than that of the stomach and appears simultaneously with or shortly after the stomach on Meckel’s scan. We report a case of a 14-year-old boy with Meckel’s diverticulum that demonstrated unusually early and intense radiotracer uptake—appearing before the stomach—and maintained markedly higher intensity than the stomach throughout the 99m TcO4 − scintigraphy examination.
